Since 1990 I have painted the coastal wetlands of the U.S., from Maine to Florida, and the California coast. I often paint places that people have shared with me. Their favorite places and where they have felt most connected to nature. Over years of direct observation I have been confronted with sometimes subtle, now often obvious environmental changes. My hope is that my paintings have captured the beauty and power of the natural world, and will inspire us to cherish and protect these threatened landscapes.

With a Masters of Fine Arts from The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and a Masters of Education from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University, my passion for direct observation of nature is the cornerstone of my professional teaching philosophy. This has led to art and science collaborations with the Anheuser-Busch Coastal Research Center of the University of Virginia, the Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in NJ, the Coastal and Estuarine Research Federation and Stockton University where I am an Adjunct Professor in Drawing and 2D Design.
